Helps parents get through rough spots in an attempt to give every boy and girl the happy childhood they deserve. The Council strongly believes that every child has the right to grow up free from the pain and trauma of abuse. CAPC acts as a clearinghouse of resources and services that reach thousands of county residents each year. All services are provided free to the community.

Listens and responds to the need of the people in the communities we serve, primarily through the use of telephone help lines. Provide a safe, non-judgmental place for people to call when they are experiencing depression, grief, parental stress, child or spousal abuse, hunger, pain or suicidal feelings. Provide education and support to teams and adults through training in basic counseling skills, active listening, self-awareness and current social issues.

Emergency personnel secure the scene and volunteer Interventionists, trained to respond within 30 minutes, provide "emotional first aid."

By helping mothers to feel better prepared to take on the responsibilities to parent a first or subsequent child, and by offering mothers (and occasionally fathers) emotional support and parenting education, Newborn Connections hopes to strengthen families and avert crises in parenting.
