VISITING THE SICK
AT JOHN MUIR HOSPITAL
God calls us to different ministries. The discernment process, which
will help to decide if this ministry is one that will be the best use of your gifts for
the sake of the community, consists of different steps. The first step is asking
yourself the following questions:
Practical Concerns
- Do I feel spiritually called to
the ministry?
- Do I have enough time to commit
to the ministry?
- Am I willing to take part in
ongoing training?
Emotional Concerns
- Can I accept the suffering of
people who are ill or in pain?
- Can I accept working with people
who are dying?
Abilities
- Do I have good listening skills?
- Am I able to work well with a
team?

you have any questions or if your evaluation determines that you are ready to
bring the presence of God through love, listening, caring and the Eucharist by
participating in this ministry one morning per week, please contact us.
